History of the Caps
The Orange Cap is awarded to the leading run-scorer in an IPL season. It was first introduced in 2008, with Shaun Marsh (KXIP) being the inaugural winner. David Warner holds the record for winning the most Orange Caps (3 times).
The Purple Cap honors the leading wicket-taker. Sohail Tanvir (RR) was the first recipient in 2008 with his record-breaking 6/14. Dwayne Bravo and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar have both won it twice, showcasing consistency at the highest level.
